About Oneplus Company

OnePlus is a Chinese consumer electronics company headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong province. The company was founded by Pete Lau and Carl Pei in December 2013 and currently is majority-owned by Oppo as its only shareholder, which is a subsidiary of BBK Electronics. OnePlus has a strong presence in the smartphone industry and is especially known for its affordable flagship phones. As of July 2018, OnePlus officially serves 34 countries and regions around the world. The main goal of the OnePlus was to design a smartphone that balanced high-end quality with a lower price than other devices in its class. It believed users would not settle for the lower-quality phones produced by other companies. In 2013, OnePlus entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Cyanogen Inc. to base its products Android distribution upon a variant of the popular custom ROM CyanogenMod and use its trademarks outside of China. In 2014, the company unveiled its first device, the OnePlus One. The phone was intended to capture the market from Google’s Nexus series. In December of that year, the company announced plans to open 25 official walk-in service centers across India. According to Counterpoint, a market research firm, OnePlus took the lead in India's premium smartphone market last year with 33%. It beat Samsung Electronics by 26%. In an IDC survey, OnePlus was third in the Indian market ranked by shipments over $500 in the first quarter of this year after Apple and Samsung Electronics.
